KUALA LUMPUR, 8 August 2023 - Tracey Star, a local distributor of women's handbags, has announced the launch of their Lancaster Polo brand's Eco Essential series of bags. These bags are made from materials certified under the Global Recycling Standard (GRS) and incorporate recycled plastic bottles, boldly combining fashion, environmental sustainability, and technology.

As global attention to sustainable development grows, more and more businesses are focusing on related initiatives. Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria can be used to assess a company's contributions to the natural environment, helping them create commercial value while enhancing their corporate image and influence.

Johnson Tan, Founder and CEO of Tracey Star, pointed out that by using recycled plastic bottles as a material for bag components, they can reduce their environmental impact and contribute to a cleaner, greener future, albeit on a smaller scale.

He explained that while the bags in the series are not made entirely from environmentally friendly materials due to considerations such as sales, design, and cost, they replace 20% of the raw materials with fibers extracted from plastic bottles. He stated, "For example, in this series, as GRS materials and related eco-friendly manufacturing technologies are not yet widely adopted, the cost of this material is two and a half times that of conventional materials."

"Despite the use of environmentally friendly materials, the durability of the finished products is no different from bags made of regular materials. In fact, they have a softer and more comfortable texture and feel."

Lancaster Polo's Eco Essential is the second eco-friendly bag series introduced by Tracey Star. The group's in-house brand, Tracey, previously launched the Apple Collection made from apple peels in April of this year, which received positive feedback. They are planning a large-scale Tracey Lite comprehensive sustainable development program in October to promote the concept of fashion and environmental protection nationwide.

Currently, the Lancaster Polo Eco Essential series is exclusively available at AEON stores across Malaysia.

From October last year to the present, there has been an impressive 50% growth in sales.

On another note, Johnson Tan revealed that Tracey Star's brand revitalization initiative, launched in October last year, has yielded remarkable results. Not only has the company expanded its presence successfully, but it has also achieved a 50% increase in performance.

"In terms of the overall performance of the group in 2022, offline growth has reached 109%, while online growth has exceeded 40%. Although there has been some moderation this year, we believe we can still meet our expectations."

Since its establishment in 2008, Tracey Star's brands have been primarily sold through dedicated counters in major department stores. In May of this year, Tracey Star opened its first flagship retail store at Mytown and plans to open two more in the Klang Valley this year.

Furthermore, to align with current trends, Tracey Star has established its own live-streaming team and is expanding into the live-streaming space.
